Product Q&A

Ask Us a Question
  • How long will generator run ?want to power CPAP on camp trip. Approx 50W.

For C-pap machines to function correctly they require a pure sine wave power output. These machines tend to draw around 200watts, which equates to 18amps per hour. For a normal night of sleep (7-8 hours), you would need a battery bank of around 200amp hours (and a suitable recharging system). If your machine only draws 50 watts then this is only about 5 amps per hour and a bank of 75amp hours would be suitable.

    Regards,

  • What is the difference between the AVR and inverter MaxWatt generators?

    1. Inverter generators produce pure sine wave electricity, making them a safer option for smaller electronics, such as mobile phone, and laptop chargers.

    2. Conventional generators are able to produce more power, and are cheaper. The inverter models also are lighter and easier to carry around. The MaxWatt inverter generators are also quieter than the AVR generators, which can be good for home backup, as well as some businesses.

  • What warranty does the MaxWatt generator come with?

All MaxWatt generators come with a 2 year warranty or 500 running hours whichever comes first.

However, if you are using it commercially, it is 300 running hours or 2 years.

  • How do I maintain the life of my generator?

    Firstly, as a safety note, always stop the engine and let the generator cool down before starting any maintenance work. The five main general tips are;

    1. Replace engine oil
    2. Check spark plug, replace if necessary
    3. Check fuel level and ensure it is fresh fuel (fuel left for a long time can go "off")
    4. Check air filter, replace if necessary
    5. Clean muffler cover and check spark arrestor

For further maintenance help, you should take your generator to a small engine specialist or an accredited generator service technician.

  • Will this generator fit my slide out tray?

    Good question!

All the MaxWatt Generators are similar in size to the other leading generators in the market. This means that it shouldn’t be an issue to fit a MaxWatt into your caravan storage space.

However, we do recommend measuring the space and checking the dimensions of the specific model prior to purchase.

  • Can this generator run my air conditioner?

    Great question!

When buying a generator to run anything in your caravan or motorhome, it is important that you first know what air conditioner you are using.

You will need to know the specifications of the air conditioner to ensure you know the running power and starting power requirements. When you know the specifications of the air conditioner, you're able to check if the generator is strong enough to use. MaxWatt has created a great table to compare their models - please click here to find it

  • What is an "inverter" generator?

Hi Alison, and thanks for your question. An inverter is a lightweight microprocessor that converts power from direct current (DC) into alternating current (AC). They are a fairly recent advancement in technology from the older style conventional generators. What it means is that the inverter generators produce very clean power which is required to run sensitive electronic equipment such as laptops, mobile phones, camera equipment etc.

The other benefits of inverter generators are that they are typically much smaller and lighter than standard open frame style generators and tend to operate at very low noise levels (less than 60 decibels). Lastly, they are also very efficient; their engine speed automatically adjusts in accordance with the required load, maximising fuel efficiency.

Overall, they are an extremely popular portable power source for camping, caravanning, DIY tasks, small business uses and home power back up. Inverter generators range from around 1000 watts up to 7000 watts.

  • Hi, would this be able to run a fridge full time and a washing machine when required or Is it more a temp camping generator?

    Hi There,

This generator is designed for caravaning, camping, and other intermittent use.

It would be able to run a fridge with no problem, but a washing machine may draw more than the generator can handle.

  • A couple of months ago, I purchased the Maxwat 9KVA to build our small rural home, power tools etc, while at the same time charging tool batteries etc. We have now finished the build and we are using the generator solely for our showers, which means that

  • What's the difference between this generator and the Yamaha engine version is it just the engine ?

    Hi There

    Yes, that is correct.

Maxwatt have generators with their own branded engines, as well as some particular models with Yamaha engines.

    Kind Regards

  • Are these generators hard to move?

The larger models have wheels and handles, while the smaller units have a lifting handle, for ease of moving. This ensures that no matter what size you get, the MaxWatt generators are easy to maneuver.

  • What fuel do I use with this generator?

The MaxWatt generators are all suitable for a standard grade unleaded fuel, including regular, premium and ultra premium. There is no need to add any oil to the fuel, as they are fuel efficient.

  • How do you connect the MaxWatt generators in parallel?

The MaxWatt Inverter Generators all come standard with a parallel cable, while other brands have this as optional accessory. This makes it easy to parallel connect with other MaxWatt Inverter Generators.

For installation, please see the generator manual or consult the team at MyGenerator.

  • Are MaxWatt generators reliable?

Yep, they sure are! MaxWatt are a family owned and operated business that was established in Brisbane in 2017. These units are a budget, but reliable option for an inverter generator. Compared to other models in the same price range, the MaxWatt come with a 2 years manufacturer warranty.

  • Are the MaxWatt generators built to Australian standards?

Yes, these generators are manufactured specifically for the Australian market, and are therefore compliant. They are all 4-stroke petrol engines with overhead valves that comply with Australian standards.

I Bought Quality for a good Price Review by
I extensively researched generators before purchasing the MaxWatt 2000W. My needs were:- 1. Around 20kg so I could carry it up stairs with a full tank of fuel; 2. A longer warrantee than 1 yr, shows manufacturers confidence in their product; 3. A largish fuel tank so I don't have to keep filling it up; 4. At least 2000W that would run my fridge, freezer and small electric items at the same time; 5. Price - I didn't want to buy a problem, I was after a reliable well built product around $700 to $800. Delivery was very quick. I called My Generator to ask a few questions before I fueled the genie. They recommended that I call the manufacturer which I did, they were super helpful. Being an older female I struggled to start it and ended up flooding it. A male neighbour came over and got it going. We turned it off and I pull started it first pop. It easily ran my fridge, small chest freezer and some other small appliances - all plugged into a power board. I don't know if the fridge entered its defrost cycle while it was hooked up to the genie, but it handled the load well. It's a month later and today I was due to run it again. I started it myself on the 3rd pull, super easy. The guys at My Generator were extremely helpful and confirmed that the size would be suitable for what I intended to run on it. I liked the history of the brand being a family business and major supplier of generators in South Africa, then when they moved to Australia they brought their MaxWatt generators with them. My Generator guys advised that MaxWatt has proven to be an extremely reliable brand, with little to no problems with their product. The 2 Year Warrantee was a major selling point, together with the price. When doing my research on alternate brands with only a 1 Yr warrantee - I spoke to overseas call centres who didn't understand my questions and didn't know much about their product at all and I had absolutely no confidence in their mass produced cheap and nasty products and in their after sales service. Why do I say cheap and nasty, because the reviews I read would make you run a mile, which I did. I purchased from an Australian Company - My Generator. I know I will have good after sales service. I have spoken to the manufacturers - the South African family here in Australia - who were extremely helpful. I'm very happy with my MaxWatt genie, I think we'll end up being best mates as I'll be relying on it when we have black-outs or if I need to go bush.

surprisingly good appearance Review by
I am not normally a fan of cheap brands, they go for about 2 years then start giving you trouble! But any way, this genset seems very well built. It starts 2nd pull runs nice. I wanted a 2nd inverter genset of this size for different places. The rubber fuel lines inside look good quality. The voltage does not rise above 244 volt under high power tool start up ! which is good considering the mains voltage out here in summer reaches 248 volts at times ! the bonus service kit looks good, that is about what goes on Honda motor here on the farm after about 15 years, air cleaner breaks up, new spark plug helps. I intend use this genset about 6 times a year, for that it looks a good choice. Grant Andrews/ SA farmer
