Where is ventilation best for the Engel ST90F? I would like to mount it flush/tight on the sides with room at the rear for ventilation if this is OK.

Hi Howard, yes that is exactly right. The configuration you have described is the typical installation set up: room at the rear for ventilation around the compressor as well as some small ventilation underneath the fridge as the unit is slightly raised off the ground which helps with some small extra air flow. Do you know what wattage the fridge draws on 240 volt. Wondering what size generator would be required .Thanks Bill

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your inquiry.

On 12v this model draws from 0.5 to 2.5 AMPS Maximum.

We don't have a specific power rating on 240v, but i'm confident that it would be around 100w. With that in mind any small inverter generator will comfortably run this fridge.

Can the 80 Litre freestanding upright Engel fridge be fitted securely to the floor of my campervan? Or does it need to be fixed to interior furniture?

Hi John, this Engel model has floor brackets at the rear of the fridge so it can be secured to the floor of your vehicle. Thanks

Hi Matt,

The ENGEL Manual advises the following:

The thermostat control knob serves the purpose of governing DC operation.(MODEL SB47F only) When turned as far as possible in an anticlockwise direction the setting is "1" (REF). When turned as far as possible in a clockwise direction, the setting is " 5 " , or (MAX) This Corresponds to a very low temperature , 0"C or less. Depending upon the prevailing ambient temperature, the refrigerator should initially be allowed to run for from 30 to 45 minutes at the maximum thermostat setting (fully clockwise), and the control should then in an anticickwise direction to select the desired refrigeration temperature. For example, the ideal refrigeration temperature for storing those foodstuffs normally kept in refrigerators is in the range from +4°C to +9°C

As you are planning on installing the fridge in the back of your 4WD you will need to make sure you also have adequate ventilation at the rear of the fridge.

Hi there,

This is an 80 Litre Refridgerator with a small freezer compartment inside. The freezer compartment is not removeable, so you cannot take out the freezer section to run the entire unit as a fridge only.

If a removable freezer is important to you, then you could consider a similar sized RV Refridgerator model from Dometic: Dometic WAECO CoolMatic CRX80 Fridge & Freezer 80L - this model allows the freezer compartment can be removed, and the fridge run as a freezer only.

The engel st90f is a great fridge for any camper or 4x4. Mine has been running for a week straight now in my van and has used next to no power and cycles on very little to maintain temperature. Gloss black finish looks great in person.

This is a fantastic fridge and it’s not loud even though some reviews have said otherwise. I would give it a 9 out of 10 the only reason it does not get a perfect score is it needs a light in it and a digital thermometer. Had to buy a thermometer with remote wireless sensor.
