I am looking at a portable fridge, what can you tell me about myCOOLMAN? How are they different to the big brands such as Dometic-Waeco or Engel?Hi Brad, good question. MyCoolman are a fairly new entrant to the portable fridge market in Australia (since early 2019) and some of the founders of this new brand were the pioneers of the original Waeco fridge many, many years ago.Generally speaking, when you are comparing a portable fridge across the leading brands (Dometic-Waeco, Evakool, Bushman, Engel, and now MyCoolman) they all perform the same basic function and have the same main components, i.e. 240 volt and 12/24 volt operation, temperature range down to approx. minus 20°C, energy efficient compressor, sturdy handles for portability/tie-down, tough but (mostly) lightweight exterior to handle the knocks, internal baskets for easy contents removal & packing etc.So essentially they will all do a great job of keeping your food & drink at your desired temperature on your trip. These leading brands also all have comprehensive warranties & national service agent networks so you know your fridge is well backed.Once a customer has made the right call that they will opt for a fridge from one of these leading brands, they will then likely compare pricing of models/brands and also fridge dimensions/size (litres) to fit their specific needs. Often after this process there can still be several models of similar size from these brands to choose from...e.g. if you're in need of a portable camping fridge of around 45-55 litres in size, you would have over half a dozen options of models from the leading brands. So how do you then choose?...to help you choose, you can delve a bit further into the finer specifics of each brand/model to see what smaller features might appeal to you. These finer features/attributes might not be the main driving force of the decision, but they can help you elect for one brand/model over another. What we mean by finer features are things such as; WiFi/Bluetooth control, USB charging outlets, LED lighting, lid opening type etc. This comes back to your original question Brad, and the main answer is: its realy only finer differences that MyCoolman offer compared to the existing big brands (noting that each of the brands have their own slight differences in their own right). The only way to slightly distinguish MyCoolman is to have is to look at these finer differences:The Finer MyCoolman Portable Fridge Features:- 2 x 12 volt and 240 volt sockets (one of each at either end of the fridge). This is convenient when packing your vehicle and you have the flexibility to run the power chord to either end of the fridge.- The fridge handles are built into the ends of the fridge, meaning they don't protrude beyond the end of the fridge like other brands. Helpful when you are tight on space in the back of your vehicle.- Their lids are slightly thicker than many of the other brands to ensure there is no bending or warping over time (note however; check fridge model weights during your comparison process)- In-built bottle openers at each end of the fridge.Probably the other difference worth noting is the optional extra that myCOOLMAN offer; the Powerpack. Check this out on the Accessories List. Its specifically designed for myCOOLMAN fridges and is a 15Ah lithium battery that magnetically attaches to your fridge so you can power the fridge anywhere. To give you an idea on run time, it will run the 44L model for around 14 hours (depending on ambient temp and other variables) – so its suitable for those quick trips. In summary, MyCoolman has released a quality range of portable fridges that are equal to the existing leading brands in the Australian market. They perform the main function of a portable camping fridge that you would expect. They have a handful of small variants from the other leading brands, and offer an optional compatiable Powerpack suited for day stips, picnics and the like.So if the above differences the MyCoolman offer are particularly appealing to you, then you should be quite happy opting for one of their fridges. If you are not especially swayed by those features, then check out the other leading portable fridge brands and there will definitely be a model with pricing and features that you'll love. Hope that helps. For more details on portable fridge brands, check out our analysis HERE.

What does the myCOOLMAN app allow me to do?
Great question! The MyCoolman app you have multiple features to make the fridge more user friendly.
For example, you are able to turn the fridge on and off with help of the app. You can also adjust the temperature on the fridge, any changes between -22°C to +10°C. Additionally, you will be able to see what temperature the fridge has, and if preferred, the settings can easily be swapped between °C to °F.
The app also allows you to turn the turbo mode on or off. Other settings that are changeable through the app are the "Battery Protection Level" and monitor the current battery voltage. It will also immediately recognise any issues with the fridge.
If you happen to have multiple fridges, you are able to easily swap & control them in the app. To make it easier to recognise which fridge is your, you can add a personalised name to your fridge.
The app is available both for Android and iPhone, just search 'mycoolman' in Google Play or the Apple App Store.

Can I run my portable fridge freezer directly from a solar panel/blanket?
Hi there,
Unfortunately no, a battery must always be used to provide a continuous power supply. You must plug the portable fridge/freezer into the battery and then plug the battery into the solar panel/blanket.
The solar panel/blanket on its own is unable to provide stable and constatnt power to your portable fridge/freezer, which is required to mantain your pre-set temperature.
Thanks for your question.

Why do I have to ensure my portable fridge freezer is setup in a well ventilated location?
Hi there,
When a portable fridge/freezer is not properly ventilated, the unit can overheat and result in high power consumption leading to poor performance and efficiency.
It's also recommended to regularly clean the air inlet and outlet vents so that it is free from dust to prevent blockages.
Thanks for your question.
