Yes this could be mounted to a 4x4. It provides wifi up to 50m from the vehicle.
It is not satellite activaed, and works with antennas that pickup mobile signals.
How far out it can be used really depends on the service provider and signal in the area.
There is a high gain antenna that can be used in area with weak mobile signals.
